This 15 minute Split Stretch is perfect for beginners! You can incorporate this stretch routine into your current practice, or simple do it on it’s own. I recommend stretching for your splits daily to get them quickly!

Mental Reset - Stop Overthinking

In this week’s video, we are going to flow through a few simple yoga poses before starting a mediation that uses the color meditation technique to focus and quiet our mind. It can be very scary or even nerve wracking to think of actually turning off your mind to mediate, we can begin by using exercises or techniques to learn.

The color mediation asks us to focus on a color, allow that color to “wash” over our mind and our body, and we can take moment to think of things that remind us of that color. By turning your focus to one simple and recognizable thing, you’re telling your mind that it’s okay to stop worrying or overthinking. It’s okay to momentarily forget your to-do list, to just be here and present.

New Year, New Me

A little recap…I’ve taken quite a break from creating content, but I’ve also taken a break from working out, stretching and practicing yoga. Over the last few months, I’ve slowly begun to stretch again, and focus on my health. Work has been all consuming, and got to the point where I was so burnt out, I would fall asleep every single time I sat down on the couch. I wasn’t eating properly, and didn’t have time to see friends or work on my hobbies. My main goal prior to the new year was to establish a stable work life balance, so when 2023 rolled around, I’d be in a place to begin Honey Lion again, as well as having time for myself.

And here we are. I’ve switched jobs, built foundations for healthy habits, and found a balance that works perfectly for me. I am SO excited to create content again and just be here with everyone. The yoga / dance Instagram community is massive and so welcoming, I’m incredibly grateful to be part of it. Every day during 2022, I dreamt of filming videos and creating tutorials. It wasn’t until I realized that I needed to full shift my work and mindset in order to make my dreams a reality. I now teach dance and am a photographer full-time.

A few of my resolutions for this year include:

  • posting 40 videos

  • meeting other dance teachers, yogis, and content creators both online and in real life

  • establish a consistent posting, filming, and creating schedule

  • creating art, videos, and products that I am proud of

I’ll be posting a new video and blog post weekly, as well as keeping up with Instagram and TikTok (which is still a super confusing platform to me). I’m so grateful for all who have been here since day one, and those that are just joining me now. Thank you.
